Special to The PREVIEW

This year’s Holiday Bazaar will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Nov. 3 at the Ross Aragon Community Center.

Included will be all the fun, food, shopping and visiting you remember from past years — and more.

The major difference this year is that the Mountain View Homemakers Club has, at the request of the Civic Club, taken over the production of the annual event.

The Holiday Bazaar is the traditional kickoff for the holiday shopping season. This year, it will include more than 75 artists and craftspeople with 63 booths. Some will travel from different parts of the Four Corners area, others from Northern New Mexico to bring their creations. Many of your neighbors right here in Archuleta County have been busy making the wide variety of gifts and goodies you’ll see on Nov. 3.

In addition to the vendor booths, three other important areas should be of interest to everyone: the amazing bake sale, with lots of treats; a silent auction with more of the popular gift baskets; and The Youth Center Diner.

Come early if you want to purchase one of the specialty cakes at the bake sale, but all day long there will be delicious homemade cakes, cookies, pies, breads and more available. Liz Schnell and her committee are lining up donations of wonderful baked items, candy and more. She welcomes a call to 264-5735 to say you are bringing a plate or a basket of goodies. All proceeds from the bake sale will go to the Ruby Sisson Memorial Library.

This is the first year the Pagosa Spring Youth Center has taken the responsibility for feeding everyone. An excited group of youngsters, under the direction of their leader, Joanne Irons, will provide both breakfast and lunch items with all the proceeds from The Youth Center Diner going to their organization.

And, for the sixth year, the very popular silent auction is back. Mountain View Homemakers Club members are at work making gift baskets for the auction. Among those already promised are a Doggie Basket with a gift certificate for vet services; baby baskets that include a beautiful handmade blanket; a chocolate basket; a basket for those who knit; wine baskets and lots more. You can be sure that the bidding will be hot and heavy for these and the other items in the auction.
